Have a hankering for a little homemade lemonade? Want to benefit the lives of local students? On Saturday, April 25th, community members are invited to a lemonade sale located at 10267 Croydon Way. All proceeds will be donated to Project 680’s most recent cause; an underwear drive.  While this may not be your conventional clothing drive, new underwear is vital and often overlooked  in ensuring dignity among homeless students. Joining the Dr. Seuss Read Across America Day is local Rancho Cordova elementary school, Cordova Gardens. Beginning at 7:45am and going until 9:15am, a breakfast of green eggs and ham, tater tots, fruit and milk will be served. All are welcome and thecost of the breakfast will be $2.00 Adults, $1.25 Kids. Nearing the end of the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, around 9:10am, there will be a Hat Parade!

Did you know that the Folsom Cordova Unified School District has a program to assist homeless students? Did you know that last year they served 680 students within the district? It is hard to grasp that so many local kids are struggling with something as basic as a stable place to live. It’s the truth though and so the aim of Project 680 is to partner with the office of the District Liaison for Homeless Services to find simple and relevant ways to support these students.

Education: The Next Victim of the Budget Crisis?

Folsom Cordova Unified School District could face layoffs due to a possible nine percent reduction in funding to public education. The school district would need to cut spending by $10.5 million, and that may include jobs within the district. A notice on the budget section of the FCUSD website suggests that cuts to employment are a definite possibility. However, the cuts will most likely begin in administrative areas and positions before reductions in other positions, according to the budget website.

National Economic Expert to Speak in Rancho Cordova

One of California’s leading economic forecasters and a prominent area real estate executive will be guest speakers at the Rancho Cordova Fiscal Overview and Corporate Report on Friday, February 13th from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the new Sunrise Events Center at 11167 Trade Center Drive in Rancho Cordova. The event is a joint project of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce and the City of Rancho Cordova.
