Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Sexual Assault Bureau detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect they believe is responsible for two sexual assaults which occurred on the Cordova High School campus. The first assault occurred on December 11, 2008, shortly before 8:00 a.m.
The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in the Sacramento area on Thursday, March 26. This event, the RecruitMilitary Career Fair, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the University of Phoenix – Rancho Cordova Learning Center. RecruitMilitary urges all job seekers who have military backgrounds to attend–veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department detectives are the public for help in identifying two possible robbery suspects. On January 11, 2009, two elderly residents living on Rhine River Court in Rancho Cordova were victims of a home invasion robbery. During the robbery neither of the victims was injured. However, the suspects did steal a wallet from one of the victims.

Rancho Cordova authorities are asking for the publics help finding two missing teenage girls last seen Thursday, January 29 with their infant children, according to Sacramento County sheriff investigators. Detectives believe the girls are together. Shaylee, 14, and Kayla, 16, were last seen walking away from their Queenwood Drive home with their infants around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, Sacramento County sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Curran said.

A 30-year-old man is under arrest in connection with a fatal December shooting in Rancho Cordova, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said Friday. Derrick Sam is accused in the slaying of Timothy Brodie, 30. On Dec. 19, 2009, Brodie was kidnapped in the early morning and taken to a Rancho Cordova apartment complex at 3060 Laurelhurst Drive, where he was shot several times in the parking lot and left to die.

Rancho Cordova apartments on Hirschfeld were evacuated Friday night after a gunman barricaded himself inside after shooting a female neighbor, Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said. Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran said a 28 year old man, later identified as Jacob Liette, shot a woman in the shoulder with a small caliber handgun around 5:15 p.m. inside an apartment. The woman has been transported to a hospital with injuries that do not appear life-threatening.refused to come out. A police robot was sent into the apartment at 8:10 p.m. and Liette’s body was found. The cause of death is believed to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

The frightening tale continues as another victim of lasts weeks kidnapping attemps comes forward. The third boy told his parents someone tried to kidnap him after he heard about two similar incidents. The 12-year-old told detectives with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department that a man approached him Tuesday afternoon near Dawes Street and Folsom Boulevard- the same general location as the other attempts. Again the suspect claimed he needed help finding his lost dog.

Rancho Cordova police report that officers are looking for a man who attempted to kidnap two 11-year-old boys Monday in two separate incidents.
Police believe the same person is behind the two attempts. The first incident was reported at 2:24 p.m. by a boy walking on Mapola Way near Williamson Elementary School. Officers responded again at 2:42 p.m. to another incident that involved a boy walking near Cordova Lane Elementary School on Cordova Lane, police said.
