Identification Sought for Sexual Assault Suspect

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sexual Assault detectives are seeking information in the break-in and sexual assault of a 50 year-old female near Vehicle Drive in Rancho Cordova.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sexual Assault detectives are seeking information in the break-in and sexual assault of a 50 year-old female near Vehicle Drive in Rancho Cordova.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has now identified the body as 37-year-old Rancho Cordova resident Rajeet Kor Singh. While the coroner has released the victim’s identification, a determination as to the exact cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.

With the assistance of Sacramento County Board of Supervisor Susan Peters’ office, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is pleased to announce the continuation of the Grinch Patrol. The Sheriff’s Department’s budget was recently augmented to provide an added security force to the Arden/Arcade-area shopping malls this holiday season. The program, known as the Grinch Patrol, will begin the day after Thanksgiving (the busiest shopping day of the year), and continue throughout the holiday shopping season. This special funding appropriation is intended to augment existing Sheriff’s Patrol and private security.

On September 30, 2010, the United States Attorney General announced the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be the recipient of a U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Hiring Program Grant. The award of $21,382,750 to the Sheriff’s Department is the largest award in the nation under this program. It will restore fifty deputy sheriff positions to Field Services. The grant provides funding for 36 months, and requires that the positions be maintained for at least 12 months after that.

Rancho Cordova Police responded to the calls of a reported shooting at 4:46 a.m. Saturday morning. They found 22 year old Damien Burkholder lying in a walkway between apartment buildings. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities spent Thursday afternoon searching a Rancho Cordova neighborhorhood for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Galt this weekend. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents are searching for Alfredo Daniel Tafoya. Tafoya is suspected of fatally shooting Efraim Zambrano, 20, and Carlos Montes, 24, at a Quinceanera party.
