Every year in May, officers from around the country travel to Washington D.C. to pay their respects to fallen officers and their families during National Law Enforcement Memorial Week. This year, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and the Rancho Cordova Police Department will see Deputy Larry Canfields’ name added to the memorial wall. The cost of the trip, transportation of vehicles, and lodging is expected to be between $40,000 and $60,000- all of which will have to be paid for by the officers themselves. The Academy is designed to foster improved relationships and communication between citizens and police through education.

Neighborhood Clean Up Event in Lincoln Village

The City’s Code Enforcement team in conjunction with Allied Waste are preparing for a one-day cleanup event in late February or early March in the Lincoln Village. Lincoln Village and Countryside will received three or four large dumpster that will be placed at pre-selected sites in the neighborhood on a Saturday. Residents are encouraged to bring items that might normally require a special pickup by Allied Waste.
