It’s that time of year again! A local Rancho Cordova school is currently out fundraising in full force armed with order forms for enjoyable tubs of cookie dough. Cordova Gardens Elementary School is holding the cookie dough fundraiser in order to raise money to bring theatrical experiences to their school. 40 percent of all cookie dough purchases will go back to Cordova Gardens where the PTA will use the money to sponsor educational programs.

Bright Eyes’ name is fitting because of her huge, round eyes that make her as cute as a doll. Every time you look at her you can’t help but smile. She wants to show off and make you proud of her. Bright Eyes would be perfect for a senior who wants a quiet companion. She needs a calm environment where routine is the order of the day. She’s close to 2 years old, very dainty and sweet. She could live with another cat as long as his/her personality was aloof.

Emerald, or Emme for short, can steal your heart with her emerald green eyes. It almost seems like she can speak to you through her eyes; with one subtle glance and a meow she can get you to pet her or a long enchanted stare might get you to feed her a treat. She came to the shelter with her brother, but once her brother was adopted and she was left behind she retracted and became scared. She became stiff as a board when she was held and wouldn’t stop shaking until she was set down.

Finances for many Rancho Cordova families are suffering, and there are only so many resources available to help. In Rancho, there are two different organizations benefiting those families in need.

Gus is a young gentleman with lots of personality. He has short soft fur with a black and white tuxedo pattern and a unique hook at the end of his tail. When Gus arrived at the LAPCATS adoption center, a non-profit support group of the County shelter, he came out of his carrier purring and began exploring his new surroundings with curiosity.

EdFund’s charity committee decided to raise food and funds for Mather Community Campus during the weeks before Thanksgiving. Employees came together and donated a truck load of food (literally). Over 500 employees donated enough perishable and non perishable food items to feed the Sacramento Area Housing Center’s Mather Community Campus’ 44 families, including 95 children in need.
