Anatolia Home Burglary Statistics Show Increase, Overall Crime Rate Flat in Neighborhood

We spoke to Rancho Cordova Police Detective Sergeant Pete James to get actual crime statistics for the past three months starting November 1, 2009. Overall the crime statistics year over year for the period are almost flat. In the 3 month period from November 1st to February 8th the total number of crimes rose 1 from 26 to 27 in 2008/09 to 2009/10 respectively. The reporting covers crimes of burglary, larceny, simple assault, and vandalism only in the Anatolia/SunRidge neighborhoods.

Would-Be Car Thief Brought to Halt by Sac County Bait Car

Early Friday morning, a Sacramento County K-9 Unit apprehended a suspect who allegedly tried to steal a sheriff’s bait car. At just before 3 a.m., the suspect broke into a vehicle that authorities use to try to trap vehicle thieves. The vehicles will often feature door locks, interior cameras and remote engine shut offs.

In the past week residents of the Anatolia neighborhood in Rancho Cordova noticed something new and unwelcome in their once pristine master planned community. The neighborhood was recently scarred by graffiti on an isolated brick wall near the intersection of Sunrise Blvd. and Douglas Rd.

Man Arrested in Connection With Rancho Cordova Murder

Jeffrey B. Campbell, 46, is accused of killing 19-year-old Frederick Howard. Campbell was taken into custody on Thursday, Sgt. Tim Curran said. Campbell, a Rancho Cordova resident, is believed to have know the victim.  

Man Fatally Shot Near Highway 50 and Folsom

Early Tuesday morning, a man was shot after having an argument with his girlfriend. Authorities were called to the 2800 block of La Quinta Drive, between Folsom Boulevard and Highway 50, East of the Watt exit, at about 5 a.m.
