Many Successes in 2010 County Animal Shelter, But There is Still More to Do

Although the County Animal Shelter continues to be faced with numerous challenges related to staff and budget reductions, shelter staff and volunteers took time to reflect on their accomplishments over the last year that are reflected in increased adoption rates, decreased euthanasia rates and over $150,000 in donations through the Support Our Shelter program.

Damento Juggling Club to Host Annual Festival Co-Sponsored by the Cordova Community Council

Damento (Davis/Sacramento) Juggling Club and the Cordova Community Council will be hosting the annual Damento Juggling Festival at George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science Saturday, February 5, 2011 through Sunday February 6, 2011. The festival attracts world class jugglers who come together to teach free workshops to all levels of jugglers. Free workshops include introductory ball juggling and spinning, contact juggling, fire technique workshops and much more!

White Rock Park Renovation Update January 2011

The groundbreaking for the White Rock Park renovation project took place on August 20, 2010, and there has been some amazing progress ever since. The Cordova Recreation & Park District expects the park to be complete somewhere in the latter part of the second quarter of 2011 (think May or June).

The Cordova Recreation and Park District’s adult sports leagues at the Mather Sports Center are gearing up for the Winter 2011 season! We have Roster/Registration packets available at the Sports Center for Softball, Basketball, and Co-ed Volleyball. Leagues will begin play in January.

Folsom Rainbow Girls Host Pictures With Santa

For more than 10 years the Folsom “Assembly” (local chapter) has spent weekends during the holidays taking photos of kids with Santa at at the Nimbus Winery. We have several “regulars” that return every year and for them it is their family tradition.
