Rosemont Toy Drive

The Rosemont Community Association will be conducting its annual holiday toy drive on Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents of Rosemont and beyond are invited to drop off toys at the Save Mart on Kiefer Blvd. It is asked that the toy be in new condition, in its original wrapping. Please also consider bringing “child friendly” toys for children of all ages and for both genders.



It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas

Rancho Cordova is starting off the holiday season on Thanksgiving weekend with festive music, delicious hot drinks, and even snow! The Cordova Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Village Green Park at Capital Village, located at Zinfandel Drive and International. The fun for the whole family starts at 4:30 p.m. with the Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m.



Project 680- The Community Reaches Out to Local Kids

The Folsom Cordova Unified School District has a program to assist homeless students with meeting basic needs. Last year alone, 680 students were served through this program and even more families are feeling the pinch this year. For many residents, that number is far too high. A group of caring community leaders recently asked the District Liaison for Homeless Services how they could help. Their reply? Socks.



Mather Sports Center Open During Construction

The $15 million complex now includes softball and baseball fields, an outdoor basketball court, and a roller hockey court- all for the enjoyment of area residents. The parking lot was completed on Tuesday, November 11 and while no exact date has been set for completion of the project, everyone is hopeful to see an end in the next couple weeks.



Veterans Day Celebration

Tuesday, November 11 is Veterans Day. The City of Rancho Cordova and the VA Northern California Health Care System is hosting the third annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Veterans Memorial Plaza (10535 Hospital Way, Mather) at 10:00 a.m. The community is invited to attend the event and to show their gratitude to the courageous men and women who have honored, protected and sacrificed for our great nation.
