The big news of the night was obviously the victory of Barack Obama over John McCain for President of the United States and voters in the County of Sacramento followed suit. Voter turnout was strong at 58.7% county-wide. For President, the County went for Obama 58% to 39% for McCain.



Long Lines a Reality for Most Area Voters

While standing in line, some voters broke off into pairs or small groups, as neighbors and families came out to vote together. One such local, early morning voter is passionate about the many propositions that involve state bonds. “Why should there be a dozen bond issues when we’re [the state] broke? It’s ridiculous. The government just doesn’t get it. It’s so different from the real world. You tell your kid not to spend above their means, but your own government can’t even do it”. Our current economic standing is an increasing factor in a lot of voters minds today and not just for the national election



Rancho Cordova Polling Place Locations

If you’re one of the voters who prefers to walk-in and cast your ballot in person or you’ve just now completed your absentee ballot and want to ensure your vote is counted you’ll want to know where you can cast your ballot. In order to assist you with finding your polling location we’ve compiled for your reference polling places in the City of Rancho Cordova to make it easy for you.



Preventative Poke at the Polls

The two groups will be offering low cost flu vaccinations at a most convenient location- polling places. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Election Day (Tuesday, November 4) people can get flu shots at the Rancho Cordova City Hall (2729 Prospect Drive). The Sacramento County Immunization Program wil be running that site and offering vaccines for $10. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. voters can head over to Capital Christian Center at 970 Micron Avenue for their vaccination from the Hopkins Clinic for $30.



Sunriver Pancakes and Politics

Saturdays’ Pancakes and Politics breakfast was a syrupy success that included 20 local candidates and all the pancakes you could eat. The morning started off with questionable weather, but only a couple raindrops fell on the event. By 9:00 a.m. the sun was shining and everyone was enjoying their meals and conversations.
