Students Photgraphy Work On Display

Folsom Lake College photography students will have their work displayed November 11 through December 11 at the college’s El Dorado Center in the Library. The display features 43 student photos of Mono Lake and the ghost town of Bodie, on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas not too far east of Yosemite.



Sac State Recycles

A team of Sac State students is competing in a global innovation competition. The competition, hosted by Stanford University, challenged students to create as much value as possible using water bottles. Sounds confusing and a bit esoteric, right? Well, it gets better: Students were allowed to define and measure “value” however they chose. Sac State’s team met the challenge by creating a video about recycling, which members put together after two days of brainstorming, while in-between midterms.



Cordova High Students Prepare for Scheduled ‘Disaster’

Thursday morning will erupt into a disaster zone at Cordova High School when students participate in a fake evacuation for their graduation drill. Over 100 students and emergency personnel will take part in the mock disaster Thursday morning at the Cordova High School at 2239 Chase Drive.



Cordova High Teacher Nominated for Prestigious Award

The California League of High Schools announced its 2008 Educator of the Year finalists for Region 3. One of our very own, Ms. Erva Watts of Cordova High School has been nominated. The nominees will be honored at the Croatian American Cultural Center during a special dinner on Thursday, November 20. Region 3 includes Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.



Los Rios College System Grows into Rancho

The passage of a $475 million bond last Tuesday, will allow the Los Rios Community College District to meet the massive enrollment growth anticipated over the next decade. “We will be able to finish off our five new college centers and modernize and expand our four existing colleges,” Los Rios Chancellor Brice Harris said Wednesday.
