As a business owner operating in today’s business climate, I appreciate the value of having a business plan. I also understand that business plans change, should business needs evolve or change. After seeing different business plan models, I have not yet seen an effective plan that incorporates personnel related budget expenses besides staffing and compensation requirements.

I’m no expert on interpreting the nearly 2600 page Healthcare Reform Bill, but my continual research causes me to believe it to definitely be the catalyst to better business partnering for employers in the business community. We all have competing priorities in the work place and need to have questions answered quickly and of course, from
reliable sources. A “Q&A” would be helpful, especially surrounding healthcare reform. For example, what if I’m 1). Self- Employed 2). My COBRA will end soon and I have a pre-existing condition or 3). I have a college age daughter who needs health care coverage?

Life as it is presents us with surprises, good and bad. Often, especially in today’s environment, we have to think quickly and adjust or change our business plans and goals as we have competing priorities and numerous demands on our time.

As many business owners continue to try and understand the Health Care Reform Bill and its impact on the bottom line, the provisions of health care for your employees could often times lead to forgetting about yourself “health wise”.
