Rancho Mini Golf Course Wins Suit to Keep Name

A chain of indoor miniature golf courses has won its battle to continue using the name “monster.” Monster Mini Golf of Rancho Cordova and the company that sells the miniature golf franchises were both being sued for trademark infringement by Monster Cable. This Bay Area company that makes electronic components is notoriously aggressive in protecting the monster name, even if, it seems, the other “monster” companies don’t offer any competition to their product line. In the lawsuit, Monster Cable claimed the indoor golf courses “are likely to cause confusion” with Monster Cable’s portfolio of trademarks, which include Monster Park in San Francisco.

New Law: Non English Speakers Have Right to Interpreter at the Doctors’

Millions of Californians with limited English proficiency now have the right to an interpreter from their commercial health and dental plans. This is made possible by a law aimed at breaking down the language barriers that get in the way of doctors being able to explain to patients about their health. This new California law was implemented on New Years Day and is the first of its kind in the nation.



Love Triangle Turns Deadly for One Rancho Cordova Man

Authorities have arrested the man who called 911 Sunday morning to report that he’d shot someone. The violence erupted at the Park Royal Trailer Park on at 11:27 a.m. Sunday, January 4th. Officers arrived at the mobile home park near Routier Road and Folsom Blvd. to find the suspect and victim on scene. Victim Darrel Cadinha, 50, was immediately pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.



Rise in Car Burglaries Along Parkway

An increase in car burglaries is causing quite a stir along the American River Parkway. One of Rancho Cordova’s greatest assets is being abused by a pair of thieves and making law abiding community members wary of taking advantage all the Parkway has to offer. The break ins have occured in parking lots at River Bend Park, El Manto Access, and Sarah Court.
