Congresswoman Doris Matsui announced today that California State University, Sacramento’s Student Support Services (SSS) Program will receive an award of $275,940 from the Department of Education. These funds were awarded through a competitive grant program and provide support and assistance to low-income, first-generation, or disabled college students in order to ensure they remain in school and graduate. SSS Program services may include instruction in basic study skills, tutorial services, personal counseling, financial aid assistance, career guidance, and mentoring.

Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation that includes $891,000 for a Sacramento-area National Guard project that was secured by Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento). The Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Fiscal Year 2011 Appropriations Bill provides the California Army National Guard Federal funding for a project at the California National Guard’s Sacramento Army Depot Field Maintenance Shop.
