Join Cordova Recreation and Park District in honoring our veterans at a special Veterans Day Celebration. Cordova Recreation and Park District is hosting this special event on Wednesday, November 10th from 11:00 am-12:15 pm at the Cordova Senior Activities Center. Veterans of all ages and from all branches of the military are welcome to attend.

Effective November 1, the County Animal Shelter is launching the “Support Our Shelter” fundraising effort to continue to raise donations that will enable sustained operations. The focus of this ongoing campaign will be to continue to look to the community to help support the 15,000 animals that come through our shelter every year by donating to the shelter, licensing their pet, or adopting an animal.

The Soroptimist International of Rancho Cordova club is accepting applications for both the Woman’s Opportunity and Violet Richardson awards.

At the City Council meeting on November 1, staff presented some conceptual ideas for a Gateway monument structure which would serve the purpose of welcoming people into the City.

As a business owner operating in today’s business climate, I appreciate the value of having a business plan. I also understand that business plans change, should business needs evolve or change. After seeing different business plan models, I have not yet seen an effective plan that incorporates personnel related budget expenses besides staffing and compensation requirements.

Quick Quack Car Wash, a growing chain of exterior-only, express car washes, has announced that it will be offering a free car wash to all veterans on Veteran’s Day in conjunction with the nationwide “Grace for Vets” program. Veterans may visit any of Quick Quack’s facilities from 7am to 7pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010 to receive a complimentary wash. Customers will only need to inform Quick Quack employees verbally that they are veterans in order to receive their free car wash.

In a continuing effort to save lives and prevent injuries on our city streets, the Rancho Cordova Police Department and Mercy San Juan Medical Center are once again joining forces to provide better traffic enforcement and a forum to provide child safety seat education to a greater segment of the Rancho Cordova Community. The Rancho Cordova Police Department is expanding their regular traffic enforcement with special operations. These operations are funded by a recent $240,000 grant awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. Special traffic enforcement and education measures will be instituted by the Rancho Cordova Police Department and the Mercy San Juan Medical Center as they continue their commitment to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education.
