BloodSource Encourages Holiday Giving that Truly Matters

BloodSource (www.bloodsource.org) has a goal to collect 700 units of blood each day so it can be tested, distributed, and on hospital shelves when needed by patients. Almost 16 million Americans needed blood last year. Every two seconds, a patient in need counts on the lifesaving gift of blood to get through cancer treatment, a surgery, an injury, or childbirth complications. Just three teaspoons can save a baby’s life.

The weather is getting colder and the holidays are coming up. Several of my four legged friends at the Sacramento SPCA could use some help warming up for the winter. While you are getting out your cozy blankets, maybe you have an extra one or two that could be donated. We will be collecting clean, gently used blankets and towels, new pet toys, and unopened pet food through December 21st at City Hall and the Neighborhood Services Center.
