Are you looking for local options for a date night or an evening out with the kids? The carnival is in town this week and tickets are on sale now. Advance purchase tickets will be sold for less that tickets at the carnival, so be sure to stop by Cordova Community Council at the Rancho Cordova City Hall to purchase your tickets before Thursday.
The carnival will run from Thursday, October 14th from 4 p.m. till 10 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon till 10 p.m. You can catch all the action at Zinfandel Square near Folsom Blvd. and Olson Drive (by the Kohl’s parking lot).

Whether your family already loves Bounce U or you’d like to try something new, the event tonight is a great way to practice some bouncing. Families have three sessions to choose from: 4:30-6:00, 6:00-7:30, and 7:30-9:00. Children are $7 each, unless they are under two years old, then they are free with the purchase of another child’s admission. Parents’ admission is free. All of the proceeds will benefit Triad Family Services. Dining options during the event include a hot dog bar and baked goods organized by Triad.

We’re months into school already at Cordova High, and while some are still getting used to getting by with less sleep and memorizing bell schedules, others have been ready to go since summer. The Cordova Interact Club could be seen this summer at Straw Hat Pizza on Tuesdays making plans for the upcoming school year. For those unfamiliar with Interact, it’s the high school level of Rotary International.

The final “Victory Is Sweet” ice cream social that celebrates Rancho Cordova’s 2010 All-America City title will be Saturday, October 9th at Lincoln Village Community Park, 3480 Routier Road. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or while supplies last, City staff will hand out complimentary frozen treats, ice cream, and commemorative bookmarks.

Weekend activities include Haunted Hagan, the Grand Re-opening of Crocker Art Museum and River Friendly Landscaping.
Williamson Elementary School, 2275 Benita Drive in Rancho Cordova, will be the starting point for the Neighborhood Walk with the Mayor on Saturday, October 9th. Mayor Ken Cooley invites walkers to join him at 8:30 a.m. for light refreshments and then go on a leisurely one-mile walk at 9 a.m.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is pleased to announce that it will coordinate the Gordon D. Schaber Mock Trial and Moot Court Program for the 2010–11 school year.
The Mock Trial competition simulates a trial-level proceeding in which students portray the roles of pre-trial counsel, prosecuting and defense attorneys, witnesses, court clerks, bailiffs, and jurors before a single presiding judge and two scoring judges. It includes courtroom art and courtroom journalism competitions.
