Riverview Community Center Grand Opening

Celebrate the grand opening of the Riverview Community Center on September 18 with Cordova Recreation and Park District!  Formerly the Riverview Elementary School, the new community center will feature a preschool program, music and dance programs, leisure enrichment programs, senior activities, sports, martial arts classes, and more.

Faced with the closure of both Cordova Lane elementary and Riverview elementary schools, the Folsom Cordova Unified School District agreed to lease Riverview Elementary to the Cordova Recreation and Park District on a long term basis. This was viewed as a win-win for both parties; the school property will not sit idle, subject to vandalism and disrepair, and the Park District would gain some much needed space to house staff and programs.

District staff has been walking door to door throughout the neighborhood to invite residents to meet the staff and tour the facility. The grand opening will feature a free barbecue lunch with all the fixings and class demonstrations. Guests will have the opportunity to meet class instructors, preschool teachers, and District staff. Additional details regarding the planned operation of the facility will be also be available.
