Many see this day as a milestone, the public birth of an educational and recreational vision – to bring railroading back to the people of Folsom and El Dorado County. The event gives you the chance to ride part of the the Southern Pacific route toward Placerville that opened to Latrobe in 1864 as an extension to the Sacramento Valley Railroad – the first railroad west of the Rockies
Support for the first Folsom Railfest has also come from the owner of the route; the ‘Sacramento Placerville Transportation Corridor Joint Powers of Authority”, the City of Folsom, REY Engineers and many more businesses and individuals
