Sheriff’s Department Awarded $21 Million In Federal Cops Funds To Hire 50 New Officers

On September 30, 2010, the United States Attorney General announced the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be the recipient of a U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Hiring Program Grant. The award of $21,382,750 to the Sheriff’s Department is the largest award in the nation under this program. It will restore fifty deputy sheriff positions to Field Services. The grant provides funding for 36 months, and requires that the positions be maintained for at least 12 months after that.

Ranch Cordova Celebrates All-America Title with Ice Cream Parties

The fourth in a series of five ice cream parties will be hosted by the City of Rancho Cordova on Saturday, October 2nd at the Mills Middle School track area, 10439 Coloma Road ,from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or while quantities last. Complimentary ice cream, frozen treats, and commemorative bookmarks will be handed out by Rancho Cordova staff to celebrate the City’s 2010 All-America City award.

Weekend Activities Include RCPD Jail and Bail and The World Music and Dance Festival

The Rancho Cordova Police Department and will be hosting a Jail and Bail fundraiser on Friday with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Community members have been “arrested” by the RCPD and have to make bail to be released. If you’d like to donate to the fundraiser and “bail out” a community member, including myself, click here. Any amount is appreciated! The Rancho Cordova Relay for Life will be held on Saturday to Sunday. The Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 12th Annual Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, October 1st. The event will be held at Mather Golf Course, located at 4103 Eagles Nest Road and will be a four player scramble.

County Animal Shelter’s Nonprofit Affiliate, TEAM, to Host First Annual Whiskers and Wine Fundraiser

As part of an effort to raise much needed funds for the Sacramento County Animal Shelter, Teaching Everyone Animals Matter (TEAM), the animal shelter’s non-profit partner, is sponsoring the first annual “Whiskers and Wine” fundraising event at the Animal Shelter, located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 25.

Rancho Cordova’s Business Walk Report Is Available

The third annual Business Walk took place in July Rancho Cordova. Co-sponsored by the City of Rancho Cordova, the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce, and the Sacramento Metro Chamber a contingent of 52 business and civic leaders visited 176 businesses to make introductions and receive input about the current local business climate. One hundred-sixty-five businesses leaders responded. Results of that survey have recently been compiled into a formal report.

Rancho Cordova Hosts Ice Cream Party at Tuscany Park

The third “Victory Is Sweet” ice cream social to celebrate Rancho Cordova’s 2010 All-America City award will take place on Saturday, September 25th at Tuscany Park, 3460 Corvina Drive. Complimentary ice cream and other frozen treats will be handed out by Rancho Cordova City staff from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while quantities last.
