“Funds generated from our kiosks go directly to the operation and maintenance of the American River Parkway, Mather Regional Park, Gibson Ranch, and other regional parks in the County’s system,” said Janet Baker, Regional Parks Director. “These extra funds will help off-set ranger and maintenance costs, which is a big help during these tough budget times.”

Consumption of alcohol and possession of open containers will be prohibited on the shore and the river within the Parkway between Watt and Hazel Avenues. Violations of the alcohol ban may result in citation or arrest, and the ordinance will be strictly enforced.
“Leave the alcoholic beverages at home,” said Steve Flannery, Chief Park Ranger. “You can still have a great time by obeying the law.”
Parkway visitors are reminded that all children aged 13 and under, in or around waterways, must wear a life jacket. It’s the law in Sacramento County. The Park Ranger dispatch line will be operated through the Sheriff’s Department. Call 916-875-PARK (7275) to report any accidents or law enforcement issues.
