Early Morning High Speed Chase Ends in Arrests

A high speed chase through the streets of Rancho Cordova early Wednesday morning ended in arrests. Deputies were called to locate a  stolen vehicle near McGregor and Folsom Blvd around 4:30 a.m. Officers tried to pull the driver over when the suspect fled.

The driver took to Highway 50 then back to surface streets again in the chase. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle lost a tire near Hazel and 50 and the vehicle crashed in to a median. Three people were arrested.

Earlier around 5:30 a.m. this morning you covered a story regarding a silver Pontiac car that was stolen out of a neighborhood in Rancho Cordova. The perpetrators were chased at a high rate of speed and arrested near Hazel and Hwy 50. The neighborhood the car was stolen from is off Hwy 50 and Sunrise and it’s called Sunriver, which is across the street from Gold River. It sits nicely nestlied along the American River with many wild turkeys, deer and wild life roaming the trails right in our own backyards. It’s a very peaceful place to live and in the past hasn’t had much crime. I thought this would be a great opportunity for the Sunriver residents to let you know what people can do when they all pull together as a community.
Back when we caught wind of budget cuts and possible officer layoffs, a gentlemen by the name of Dave Mason spearheaded a “Patrol Watch” idea that he had. Since, he has made his idea come together by asking the community to get involved. The Sunriver community has worked very hard to put this “Patrol” plan together. The “Patrol Watch” consists of many neighbors volunteering their time to reduce crime in our area. It seems to be paying off and it did pay off this morning. Thanks to a couple of vigulant neighbors, neighborhood surveilance cameras stratigically placed, two barking dogs on night watch and a quick response to a 911 call, the thieves were found and arrested. We have worked hard this past year putting this “Patrol Watch” together and we are now reaping the benefits. Neighbors actually takes shifts and drive around the neighborhood 24/7. We call in any suspicious activity and let law enforcement handle it from there. We keep a log and track any activity that looks suspious. Because of this neighborwood patrol program, we feel that we may have prevented possible crimes from taking place in our area. We meet once every couple of months, share phone numbers & information about each other and update each other with any news that we may have. The layout of our developement makes it easy for us to work together. Sunriver is a community of approx 800 homes and because of one man’s efforts, we have pulled together as a tight community that looks out for one another.

    • Hi Donna,

Thank you for commenting and providing us with these additional details. Many times things happen in the community and all we have is a brief police report. It can difficult for us to track down more information without residents like you. Whenever something happens in the community we’d like for others to know as well. Knowing about the Sunriver Patrol Watch efforts is great news and it could encourage other neighborhoods to do likewise. Your patrol watch would make for a great story on the RC post. We’d love to hear more about how it formed, why it formed, and who are the neighbors involved. If you’re interested and willing let’s work on a story together to let all of Rancho Cordova know about this great program.

    Yay Donna!!

We live across Coloma from you off of Bridlewood and have also been considering doing soemthing similar to what you are. We just aren’t quite sure how to get started. I would love to hear your technique, how you set up patrols, etc. We have had a rash of car break in’s recently and a couple of neighbors have chased a few suspects off, but we would love to have something more organized!
