Take Me Fishing Volunteers Needed
If you love to fish, take the time to pass it on to a child or teen! Cordova Recreation and Park District, through a grant from the National Recreation and Park Association, will be offering the “Take Me Fishing” program. A volunteer orientation program will be held on August 26, 6:30-8:00 pm at the Cordova Community Center, 2197 Chase Drive Rancho Cordova.
Potential volunteers can learn more about the program and complete a volunteer application at the event. Volunteers need to be 18 years or older, and be available at least one of the following times: after school, evenings, or weekends. No prior teaching experience is required, and training will be provided.
This program aims to reconnect at least 2,000 youth between the ages of 6-15 with the outdoors
by teaching them lifelong fishing skills. This program will incorporate after school programs, mentoring programs, at weekend clinics, and special events. Additional program partners include the “Fishing in the City” program, Police Activities League, STARS after school program, and the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership.
