Smith Is New Rancho Cordova Planning Commissioner
Synthia A. Smith, a business executive, has been appointed to the Rancho Cordova Planning Commission by City Council Member Linda Budge. Smith fills the vacancy on the Commission that was created when Thomas Moe moved from the area. The term expires in December.
Smith is the founder and president of Cherish the Possibilities (CTP), a business and personal development coaching firm. She is a member of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, American Business Women’s Association, the Business to Business Referral Group, and the St. John Vianney School Board of Directors.
She earned a B.A. in Social Welfare/Sociology from California State University, Sacramento, and a M.S. in Organizational Development/Hum
an Resource Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. She also earned a Leadership Development Certification from the University of Virginia – Darden School of Business in Charlottesville.
Smith grew up in Rancho Cordova and after a short career outside of the area, moved back to the City eight years ago and resides here with her 12-year-old daughter.
“Before owning my own business, I worked in numerous leadership and management positions for various Fortune 500 corporations which allowed me to develop the ability to become strategic minded, visionary, and detailed oriented which I believe will serve as an excellent foundation for being a Planning Commissioner,” she remarked.
The Rancho Cordova Planning Commission is vested with advisory and decision making functions found within the Zoning Code of the City. The group meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
