Meet the Candidates: Wayne Hart
Last Friday was the deadline for candidates to file to run for Rancho Cordova City Council. After the filing deadline at 5pm on August 6th we announced the four candidates who had filed their paperwork to run and were cleared by Sacramento County as registered voters and residents of the City of Rancho Cordova.
Two of the candidates may be well known to you as they have served on the City Council for the past 8 years. Linda Budge and Dan Skoglund are seeking re-election for another 4 year term. The two challengers Wayne Hart and Paul Tassinari are relative unknowns, however today we’ll introduce you to one of them. On Monday we profiled Paul Tassinari. Today we profile Wayne Hart.
Wayne Hart is a Program Manager for Blue Shield of California. Prior to this position he worked as a Project Manager for VSP in Rancho Cordova for 13 years. He’s a 10 year resident of the City of Rancho Cordova and lives in the Stonecreek neighborhood with his wife Stacy and 9 month old son Hayden. Wayne and his wife are expecting another child soon.
Wayne grew up and went to High School in Orangevale at Casa Roble in the San Juan school District. He graduated from Sacramento State in 2000 with a degree in Business Finance. He told us he is involved in Toastmasters and is active in his church. Mr. Hart has never run for or held public office before, but felt now was the time to get involved. He states, “There has been no change in the City Council since incorporation (almost) 8 years ago. It’s time for a new voice on the Council.”
When asked why he was running for City Council he stated, “to be more responsive, to show more transparency.” He told us he would like to encourage more businesses to locate in the City and took issue with the fact that there is still no grocery store south of Highway 50, despite many homes and residents living there.
In the upcoming weeks we will also ask the candidates to answer questions about their experience, qualifications, and interests related to running for Rancho Cordova City Council. If you have specific questions for the candidates, ask them here in the comments, or send us an e-mail at editor @ ranchocordovapost.com.
