The Cordova High Class of 1970 is already taking registrations for the dinner and dance on October 9, 2010, at the Rancho Cordova Marriott Hotel, 11211 Point East Drive, Rancho Cordova. If you graduated in 1970 from Cordova High or know someone who did, please spread the information about the reunion.

On July 19, 2010, at 8:03 a.m., Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to the report that a bicyclist had been struck by a car in the area of White Rock Road and Quality Drive. Officers arrived and found a 61-year-old male lying in the street and suffering from severe injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

On July 18, 2010, at 7:57 p.m., Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to the report of a collision between two motorcyclists in the area of Freestone Way and Edington Drive. Officers arrived and found a 19-year-old male lying in the street suffering from severe injuries. Paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The 37th annual Eppie’s Great Race enjoyed record participation today with 2,092 athletes competing in the popular summer event. The last record was set in 1988 with 2,006 race participants.

An apartment fire on Wednesday night led to the discovery of a number of marijuana plants. The fire broke out in a second floor apartment at the Chesapeake Commons on Data Drive around 9:30.
A neighbor was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher he had in his apartment and called the fire department. Christian Pebbles of the Sacramento Metro Fire Department said the fire was almost completely out when the firefighters arrived.

Temperatures over the next several days are expected to be in the upper 90’s and low 100’s. When temperatures remain that high for three or more days we traditionally see a spike in heat related emergencies, especially in older adults, infants and those who work outside.
