Weekend Activities Include Eppie’s Great Race and Free Admission Day at the California Museum
Whether you’re a fried food connoisseur or an athlete, you’ll have your choice of activities this weekend. Eppies Great Race, the state fair and Free Entry Day at the California Museum.
Eppies Great Race is perfect for the advanced athlete as well as those just starting out. The race is the oldest triathlon in the world and includes a 5.82 mile run, 12.5 miles of biking, and paddling 6.35 miles. The race begins on Saturday the 17th at 8:00 a.m. at William Pond Park and ends at River Bend Park (formerly Goethe Park). Even if you’re not in the shape to be paddling down the American River in a kayak, you can still participate by cheering the competitors on. After all the exercise going on at Eppie’s Great Race, you might need a little time to recharge and relax. What could be more fun that enjoying delicious fried foods or some of their healthier cousins at the state fair? Fair foods are being sold for 25% less than what we’ve seen in prior years. There will also be new shows and exhibits including a Jungle and Reptile Experience and Days of the Dinosaur. Ticket specials have been extended until Friday, July 16.
Museums are fun but when the entrance fee is waived, their a little friendlier on the checking account. On Saturday, July 17th, enjoy free admission to the California Museum located at 1020 O Street in Sacramento. The museum is open from 10-3 and is courtesy of Target and the Target Arts and Wonder Free Family Event.
