Celebrate the 4th of July in Rancho Cordova Style

Rancho Cordova has one of the best 4th of July celebrations in the area. Luckily for us, it’s in our own back yard. From the parade to the beer garden to the carnival and the fireworks show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The best part? The event is free!

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday on Coloma Road. Be sure to get there prior to 8:30 if you plan on driving in as the road will be closed to traffic. The parade categories include churches, schools, service organizations, classic cars, commercial entries, and private entries. If you’re a fan of the parade, thank a Kiwanian. The Rancho Cordova Kiwanis plan and execute the parade for the community every year. So whether you’ll be in Rancho for the day or attend the 4th of July Celebration every year, pack up the sunblock, grab a lawn chair and cheer for your favorite parade entry.

There will be plenty of entertainment to enjoy between watching the parade and enjoying the fireworks. The Rancho Cordova Carnival is already in full force and will continue until Sunday night. You can purchase ride tickets at the Rancho Cordova Grocery Outlet, the Grapevine Independent, City Hall, and Heritage Credit Centers (Sunrise and Mills Center locations only). On Saturday, the Kid’s Zone will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. and will feature music, Mad Science, and Tae Kwon Do. The beer garden, hosted by the Cordova High Class of 1979, will be open from noon till 11 on both days.

Just before the fireworks show, enjoy the free concerts on both Saturday and Sunday nights. On Saturday night check out Brian Howe of Bad Company on the main stage. On Sunday Busta-Groove will be playing on the main stage.

Parking for the event costs $10 and the proceeds will benefit local charities. Families are encouraged to bicycle in and a shuttle will be running from the Mather Light Rail Station for free.
