Rancho Cordova Celebrates 7th Birthday With a Marriage

It has been seven years today since Rancho Cordova became a city. This birthday is one to go down in the record books as the city of Rancho Cordova has finally annexed, or married, “the finger”,  an area that is approximately 1.2 square miles and stretches from Highway 50 south down the Sunrise Blvd. corridor to White Rock Road.  The area also stretches east, following Highway 50 up to Hazel Avenue. Many in the community have always considered that area to be Rancho Cordova and now that the legalities are completed, it is!

On Thursday morning, a crowd gathered to celebrate the new city area. Community members along with city officials and business owners attended to see the official unveiling of the new Sunrise Blvd street sign in Rancho Cordova red, white and blue.

The annexation helps make the city complete, as this has been a seven year engagement between the two areas. Mayor Cooley, dressed in a tuxedo for the event stressed the importance of the occasion for a growing city. “This is a joyous event. This is a welcoming…It helps us with our vision for a thriving business community”.
