4th of July Weekend Activities Get Hotter and Hotter
Are you planning on checking out fireworks from your driveway or are you going to take the family camping? There are a ton of activities going on this weekend for the entire family to enjoy. From a rodeo to fireworks shows across the area, make sure to wear sunblock and drink plenty of water because this weekend is going to be hot!
The city of Citrus Heights is hosting free fireworks at Sunrise Mall. There will be the Shriner’s Children’s Carnival and rides and the parking for the event is free. The event will feature live music by Innersoul and 3-D glasses to watch the fireworks. The streets surrounding the mall will be closed to traffic from 9-11, so those not attending the event should take alternate routes.
Rancho Cordova is also hosting a 4th of July Celebration at Hagan Park. Admission to the event is free and parking is $10. This Star-Spangled Weekend event will feature a carnival, beer garden, vendors, and free concerts from Busta-Groove and Brian Howe. Enjoy a fireworks show on both Saturday and Sunday nights at 9:45.
Rancho Cordova also has a pretty impressive 4th of July Parade. Hosted by the Rancho Cordova Kiwanis, the parade will run along Coloma Road on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Be sure to get your seats prior to the start of the parade as the road will be closed to traffic at 9 a.m. This year expect to see fantastic floats, the dancing horses and all the Independence Day spirit you can handle!
The Folsom Pro Rodeo will have roping, riding and fireworks. From Friday through Sunday, rodeo-goers will be able to enjoy the events when the gates open at 6 p.m. Roping events begin at 7 p.m. and riding events will begin at 8:15 p.m. Stay for the fireworks at dusk and live music at Mike’s Golden Spike Saloon.
No matter what your plans are for the holiday weekend, please make sure you stay safe and take precautions against the heat. If there are other events in the area that should be shared with our readers, please leave the information as a comment.
