
Effective August 1, 2010, the remaining Regional Parks public counter, located at 4040 Bradshaw Road, will now be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The counter will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. On the days that the public counter is closed, the Regional Parks business/information line, (916) 875-6961, will go to voicemail that will be monitored once a day. The park ranger dispatch number, (916) 875-PARK (7275) will continue to be answered.

The weather this weekend is supposed to be about as close to perfect at we can get. Take the opportunity to enjoy the cool evening breeze with the family watching a movie in the park or head to downtown Sacramento to watch the 2nd Annual CAM Car Cruise.

After leading the fight to bring child predators to Justice in California and across the country, Congressman Dan Lungren’s (R-Gold River) wish to have Megan’s law reach international predators came true. International Megan’s Law – H.R. 5138 – was passed by Congress Tuesday evening. Lungren gave the following statement:
“While serving as the Attorney General of California, I worked to ensure passage of Megan’s Law, which helps parents in California protect their children from sexual predators. Because of the effective enforcement of laws like the California Megan’s Law, sex offenders are increasingly preying on young victims overseas – out of the reach of local and state law enforcement agents.

Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation that includes $891,000 for a Sacramento-area National Guard project that was secured by Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-Sacramento). The Military Construction and Veteran Affairs Fiscal Year 2011 Appropriations Bill provides the California Army National Guard Federal funding for a project at the California National Guard’s Sacramento Army Depot Field Maintenance Shop.

The 5th Annual A Taste of December will be held on December 16th 2010 from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova. This evening event in December is dedicated to building a strong community for families and youth.

The Cordova Recreation and Park District is expanding their preschool program and moving to Riverview Elementary School. Classes will be offered during both mornings and afternoons for 3 hours a day.
