Rancho Cordova Throws a Red, White and Blue Bash July 3-4

Rancho Cordova Fourth of July returns for two days of festival fun, parade, free concerts, carnival rides and fireworks during “Star-Spangled Weekend,” the 26th year for the Sacramento area’s largest free Fourth of July celebration.

All events are held in Hagan Park. Admission to the park is free of charge. Parking is $10.

Star-Spangled Weekend kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3 with a parade down Coloma Road to Chase Drive. The parade pulls the trigger on a two day festival in Hagan Park.

Featured events this year include:

• American Traveling Show Carnival, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 3-4. Get discount tickets at local retail outlets and Rancho Cordova City Hall. Visit www.ranchocordovajuly4th.com for special promotion details.

• Brian Howe and Bad Company Concert, 8 p.m. July 3. It’s a blast from the past as former lead singer Brian Howe brings back the hits of the legendary rock group “Bad Company.” Admission to this outdoor concert is free of charge with a fireworks grand finale. Great music under the stars!

• Kids Zone, noon-7 p.m. July 3 and 4. Free fun for kids of all ages including steam train rides, petting zoo, crafts and games, fun entertainment and much more. Take a pedal boat ride on the Hagan Park lagoon, the only weekend of the year this fun activity is offered. Older kids will love the Extreme Zone.

• Rancho Cordova Star-Spangled Festival, noon-11 p.m. July 3 and 4. Grab the family and plan to spend the entire day in Hagan Park enjoying festival food and activities offered at dozens of festival booths. Come hungry!

• Busta-Groove Concert, 8 p.m. July 4. Bring a blanket big enough for the whole family for a free Fourth of July concert by Bay Area favorite “Busta-Groove.”

• Fireworks Spectacular: 9:30 p.m., July 4: The Star-Spangled Weekend Fireworks Spectacular is the explosive ending to a great weekend in Rancho Cordova. Fireworks begin promptly at dark. Admission is free of charge. Please arrive early as traffic can get heavy and you do not want to miss the show!
