Local Businesses and Events Make Father’s Day Affordable and Fun
Father’s Day is only two days away. If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect budget-friendly gift for Dad I’ve compiled a list of local businesses and activities that could make your life a little easier.
Unless he’s asked for it, your father probably doesn’t want another tie or desk organizer. I’ve learned from experience that tools, while a classic gift, are personal and you should do some research and have his opinion before you hit the tool aisle. Home improvement stores offer a plethera of gift-able items for Dad. Before you start wondering aimlessly among the bags of fertilizer and lumber, check out the store’s website. Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Sears also offer a weekly email list that will keep you up to date on their sales. You can do a little price comparing before you evenleave the house.
If you plan on taking the family out to dinner, remember to check out Restaurant.com to see if there’s a restaurant you’re interested in. There are plenty of restaurants in the area offering Father’s Day specials if you’re looking for good food for a great price. Il Fornaio, McCormick and Schmicks, Morton’s Steakhouse, and many others are offering not only specials, but menus especially for Dad.
Sometimes dads need a little time off to relax. The Sacramento area has some creative options that don’t involve a day trip. The Sacramento River Train is offering a Father’s Day “BBQ Train” on Sunday at 11 a.m. The three and half hour trip will feature a barbecue lunch at Elkhorn Park. Dads can see a free IMAX movie on Father’s Day with the purchase of at least $20 from any mid-town or down-town restaurant. The California Automobile Museum is also offering free entry for all fathers.
