Beware of Services Offered For Free Public Records

A southern California based company is sending notices that offer their services for fees of $87 to $122 or more for public record copies when the copies may be purchased directly from this office with no additional service fees at an average cost of $15.

This information is provided to alert the public that this and other private companies offering similar services for fees are not affiliated with County’s offices or any other agency of local government. Below are points of interest on property related services and information available:

1) Homeowners should have received a copy of their grant deed and property description in their escrow closing papers at the time of purchase as well as the original after recording.

2) Copies of grant deeds on properties located in Sacramento County may be directly purchased from the County Clerk/Recorder at two locations, by telephone or facsimile. For specific services and fees, please visit our website at www.ccr.saccounty.net or by calling (916) 874-6334.

3) The Assessor’s Office has additional property related information such as owner’s names, property characteristics, and assessed property values to name a few.

For additional Assessor information and services, please visit their website at www.assessor.saccounty.net or by calling (916) 875-0700.
