Two Rancho Cordova Businesses Destroyed by Early Morning Blaze

Authorities are investigating a 3 alarm fire that occurred in Rancho Cordova early Wednesday morning. The fire was reported at about 3:40 a.m. at Happy Auto Parts and V and O Auto Parts. The two auto dismantling businesses share a building in the 3400 block of Sunrise Blvd, South of White Rock Rd.

When fire fighters arrived at the scene, the building was too engulfed in flames for them to enter and forcing them to fight the fire from the exterior of the building. Ariel ladder trucks were used to pour water on top of the building. Fire fighters worked for well over an hour to control the blaze. The interior suffered major damage and is being considered a total loss.

Because the area is industrial, no one was evacuated. The fire did cause some traffic problems for early morning commuters. Southbound Sunrise at White Rock was closed.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
