Taco Bell to Open Boasting Greater Energy Efficiency
Many community members are disappointed to see the Taco Bell on Bradshaw Road close this winter. Some were concerned with the status of the building, until it was completely demolished and the skeleton of a new restaurant was erected. If you drive by today you’ll see what looks to be a fully functioning Taco Bell, though the doors aren’t quite open for business just yet.
The grand opening is set for mid-March, but depends entirely on how soon the finishing touches can be made and the permits completed. Check our Community Calendar, which will feature the date of the opening as soon as the date is finalized. The grand opening will feature a mariachi band, a clown for the kids and, of course, Taco Bell food.
As the general public is becoming more aware of and concerned about the environment, so are local businesses. The new Taco Bell will be an improvement from the older restaurant in every way. The old mission style building has been replaced by the modern looking store front. The new Taco Bell will also be environmentally friendly- something the old restaurant could never hope to be.
With solar powered water heating panels and daylight lighting controls, the new restaurant will be taking advantage of something the Sacramento area generally has in abundance- sunlight. A low water use irrigation system, low flow toilets and lavatories, and a tankless water heater will save about 50% of the water usage the restaurant would have otherwise had. The Bradshaw Taco Bell will also be using high efficiency air conditioners and several energy star appliances. You will find CFLs in the dining room and fluorescent lighting throughout the rest of the restaurant.
With nearly 5,600 Taco Bell restaurants across the country, nearly 37 million people enjoy Taco Bells foods every week. For more information about Taco Bell and Taco Bell foods, please see the official website.

I wonder what will happen to the family owned Mexican restaurant that is next door to the Taco Bell. I drive down Bradshaw everyday so I am excited to have another option for picking up a quick meal.
The two restaurants have been neighbors for quite some time. I’m sure each has their own following at this point. Plus, you can’t really go wrong with too many dining options!
Really? That’s too funny. I never noticed the second restaurant until Taco Bell was gone. I guess I need to pay more attention.
