One Fair Oaks man is dead and his brother is wounded after an attack at their home early Monday morning. Around 1 a.m., the 25 year old brother came home and was attacked by two men hiding in the bushes in front of his home located on Winding Way. The two men forced their way in the home after hitting the man in the head with the butt of a gun, then began demanding money.

The 31 year old brother, who had been sleeping, woke up and joined the fight. He was shot in the lower body and later died at the hospital. The younger brother was also taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The suspects then fled the scene. It is unclear at this point if anything was stolen. The names of the brothers have not yet been released.

Authorities do not have clear descriptions of the attackers. The first is a heavyset white male. The second is possibly Asian or Hispanic. They drove off in a late 1990’s, early 2000’s dark green or black Ford Ranger extended cab truck.

Anyone with any information may call Crime Alert at (916) 442-HELP or the sheriff’s homicide Detectives at (916) 874-5057. Informants can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
