Citrus Heights Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

A Citrus Heights man was booked in the Sacramento County Jail on felony charges of animal cruelty after shooting his neighbor’s dog. The dog, a corgi named Midge had been shot in the side. Police say the suspect, Cataldo Cristiani, 69, was seen going into his home with a gun.

After arriving at Cristiani’s residence on the 5400 block of Sagitarius Way, officers found the dog laying in the yard with a small wound in its side, dead. Officers determined tha Cristiani shot the dog with a BB gun when it entered his yard then went back in the house. Cristiani said he did not intend to kill the dog.

This wasn’t the first incident of the dog defacating in Cristiani’s yard. The dog had been visiting the neighbor’s yard for years before the shooting on Saturday.

  1. If people are going to have pets good for them! BUT take total care and not ask the neighbors to clean up after them. Those kind of neighbors are not kind or thoughtful. I have a neighbor that insists of feeding ferrel cats, even though I have told them they leave such a stench in my back yard I can’t stand to sit out there to enjoy the summer time. And these are neighbors I have helped in the past.
