SunGard Data Center Opening in May, Seeking IT Experts
Pennsylvania-based SunGard Availability Services announced today that in May it will be opening a new 69,000 square-foot data center in Rancho Cordova, and jobs for the new facility are already posted on their website.
The data center will be located on Sun Center Drive near Kilgore Road. The center will feature 28,000 square feet of conditioned raised flooring that will be subdivided into caged areas and private suites, and nearly 6 megawatts of power will run through two electrical feeds in the building. The data center will provide several IT-related services for Bay Area companies, including hosting services, network services, managed security services, storage services and replication services.
Sungard said in a statement that the center was built to address the growing demand for IT services such as virtualized data centers and managed disaster recovery in Silicon Valley and other Bay Area locations, and their decision to locate the center in Rancho Cordova was due to the area’s stable geographic location.
“This new facility demonstrates SunGard’s sustained investment in expanding its infrastructure in California, to deliver services scalability and process expertise to customers,” said Vice President of Operations Lance Hanchey. “It also reflects our commitment to helping Sacramento and Bay Area companies meet information availability requirements by keeping their people, systems and data connected.”

The addition of Sungard to the Rancho Cordova data center industry is momentous. This is one of the most well respected IT and Disaster Recovery companies in the world. Rancho Cordova has really become a nexus for data centers with other major players also located here. In addition, these are great jobs in terms of skill sets and pay for this area to attract highly educated and affluent workers.
