Join Body Investment Studio for West African Dance Class

“Umbo”, which means Lion, is a master drummer and dancer. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, Umbo studied music at Ecole des Artes. He has been drumming and dancing since he was ten years old. He has traveled the world touring with musical groups such as Echo Africa, Ballet National, and Ballet Bougarabou.

Since arriving in the United States, Umbo has performed with his own dance company, Fasobarra. Umbo’s teaching style is energetic and spiritual. He encourages creativity and hopes his students have fun while learning a new style of dance.

His motto: “Don’t be afraid of something new and having to learn dance moves. There’s no pressure. If you feel lost with the actual moves just do whatever you feel like and let you body be free to move. There are no mistakes, only solos”.

Please join Umbo at Body Investment Studio on Friday, January 29, 2010, 6:00pm, and again on Friday, February 19, 2010 to learn and experience the amazing and liberating movement of West African Dance. The class will incorporate traditional Senegalese, Malian, Ghanaian dace. There will be lots of hip shaking, arm waving, and general fun.
