Rancho Cordova Business Round-Up: January 2010

  • GenCorp, the parent company of Aerojet, named aerospace executive Scott Seymour as new president and CEO Jan. 6.
  • Senator Dave Cox and Assemblyman Roger Niello will be holding legislative hearings where they will be hearing testimonies from local businesses owners on the impact of regulations on their businesses. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 8-9:30 a.m. in the Folsom Lake College Community Room (10 College Parkway, Folsom).
  • Kohl’s announced a 4.7 percent increase in same-store sales for Dec. 2009, beating expectations of a 3.6 percent increase.
  • Don Ball will be resigning from his position of CFO and senior vice president at Raley’s in February after one year in the position; Chief Operating Officer Dave Clark will be serving as interim president.
  • Aerojet will be supplying MK 125 warheads, used in the U.S. Navy’s long-range protection from aerial threats, for Raytheon Missile Systems’ Standard Missile programs.
  • Schnitzel Steel reported an income of $16 million from metals recycling for the first quarter of 2010, compared to a loss of $19 million for the same quarter of 2009.
  • Grand Central Station Grill, a restaurant located at Sunrise Boulevard and White Rock Road, closed its doors on Dec. 30.
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed suit against K-Designers, located on Gold River Road, for alleged sexual harrassment and retaliation against a female employee from 2006-2007.
  • The Shell gas station located at 2401 Sunrise Boulevard  announced they have joined the DMC Green Dealers Group and will be providing biodiesel, ethanol and electric car charging in addition to Shell gasoline.
