Christmas Tree Recycling and Pick Up Offer Convenience, Peace of Mind

Rancho Cordova area residents truck home thousands of Christmas trees each year and are often frustrated with the hulking evergreen after the holidays have passed and the ornaments have found their way back in to storage. Luckily, Rancho Cordova has numerous options for ridding your living room of your Christmas tree.

If you’d like to recycle your tree, you may take it to any recycling or landfill station. The Dan Russell Rodeo Arena, located in the Folsom City Park on the corner of Natoma and Stafford is accepting trees until January 3 from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. You can also drop your tree off at the Elder Creek Recycling and Transfer Station until January 31.

Rancho residents who don’t want to fill their car or truck with pine needles might want to consider leaving their tree on the curb during regular trash pick up days. Trees placed on the curb will be treated as trash, but trees cut in to smaller sections and placed in the green waste bin will be recycled. Curbside pick up in Rancho Cordova is available until January 16th.

Citrus Heights residents can either dispose of their trees by placing them on the curb on their regular trash day until January 16th or may cut them up to fit in their green waste bins. Only unflocked trees may be recycled.

Those living  in Sacramento County, outside of city limits, will not have the option of curbside pickup, but are encouraged to recycle their tree by cutting it up and placing it in their green waste bin on their regular pick up day.

Recycled trees must be free from all decoration including ornaments, tinsel, and lights.
