Copper Thieves Cause Service Outage for Light Rail Stations

A service bulletin from Sacramento Regional Transit said a service outage is in place on the Gold Line of the light rail between Mather Field and Hazel, and there is currently no estimate time for service to resume.

Buses will be running at each stop from Mather Field/Mills to Hazel  every 15 minutes, the bulletin said. Trains are still running outbound to mather field and inbound to hazel.

The disruption occurred due to the theft of copper from the line at Kilgore and Folsom in the early morning hours, a report from KCRA said. Though no official repair time has been given, Spokesman Mike Wiley said in the report that the repairs should be completed in time for the evening commute.
