The third annual Winter Woof Fest took place at the Cordova Community Center December 12 from 1pm to 4pm. This event was presented by Cordova Recreation and Park District and the Gone to the Dogs dog park committee and was a fundraiser for CRPD dog parks. To date, Gone to the Dogs volunteer members have raised $9,300 in support of the dog park project.

Despite stormy weather, approximately 160 people and their four footed friends attended the “howliday” event to browse the vendors, bid on silent auction items, and have pictures taken with “Santa Paws”. Cordova Recreation and Park District thanks silent auction donors including the Gone to the Dogs Committee members, Stancon Roofing, Wag Hotels, and The Local Bark gave gift certificates, Linda Hart, Casera Jewelry, Nature’s Select pet products, K-9 Expressions Embroidery, Book Lovers Book store, Grocery Outlet, and Behind the Behavior.

The first dog park for Cordova Recreation and Park District is due to break ground in early 2010. Watch for upcoming information regarding the next groups event – “Woofstock 2010”, to be held at Hagan Park in Spring of 2010!
