County Shelter Cat Adoption Fees Waived for Holiday Season
The Sacramento County Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for all cats one year and older through December, and they have a slew of other activities planned to help Sacramento’s needy children and pets.
Adoption fees for cats normally start at $81 but they will be waived through December for grown cats. The fees include spaying or neutering as well as micro-chipping and a rabies vaccination. The shelter is also planning to add one ornament to their Christmas tree for every animal adopted in December, so they are depending on the public to adopt pets and help fill their tree.
Pets that already have homes can meet Santa and have their picture taken with him Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 19-20, and the shelter is asking for a $10 donation for the picture. Rudolph the Goat will also be in attendance for the weekend festivities.
The shelter is also accepting donations for News 10′s Coats for Kids campaign, as well as food donations for the Pet Pantry, which provides food to help pet owners feed their pets.
“There are going to be of fun activities for the whole family at our facility for the holidays,” said Director Pat Claerbout. “We are inviting everyone to come out and visit our new facility and meet our special animals who would make the perfect addition to your home and your family.”
The Sacramento County Animal Care Facility is open at 11 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and is located at 3839 Bradshaw Road in Sacramento. The shelter closes at 6 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on weekends.
