“No Impact Man” Film to be Presented by Folsom Lake College Dec. 10-11

The community is invited to a free presentation of the documentary film “No Impact Man” on Thursday, Dec. 10 at the El Dorado Center in Placerville, and Friday, Dec. 11 at the main Folsom campus, with both events beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to watch the documentary and participate in a discussion about how we can reduce our consumption, spend less, put the fun back into the holiday season, and get more of what matters out of it. Event-goers will also receive an e-toolkit full of tips for lowering their environmental impact during the holidays.

The El Dorado Center (6699 Campus Drive in Placerville) event will take place in the Community Room (C-102), with the event on the main Folsom campus (10 College Parkway in Folsom) taking place in the college’s Large Lecture Hall (Buckeye Hall, room FL3-173).

“No Impact Man,” an Oscilloscope film, tells the story of Colin Beavan’s decision to completely eliminate his personal impact on the environment for a full year. It means eating vegetarian, buying only local food, and turning off the refrigerator. It also means no elevators, no television, no cars, busses, or airplanes, no toxic cleaning products, no electricity, no material consumption, and no garbage. The event is co-sponsored by the college’s Eco Club.

Admission to the events is free (a daily parking pass can be purchased for $1). For maps with directions, please go to www.flc.losrios.edu, click first on “Campus Maps” and then “El Dorado Center” or “Folsom Lake College.”
