County to Give Arden Arcade Residents Gift of Smooth Roadways for Holidays

Sacramento County has unveiled its Pothole Sweeps Week plans for Fall 2009, and Arden Arcade will reap its benefits for the holiday season.

The pothole sweeps officially started Nov. 30, and from now until December 11, County Department of Transportation work crews will be inspecting streets and marking potholes with white paint. Residents are encouraged to point out any potholes that haven’t been painted by calling (916) 875-5171 or visiting www.sacdot.com/tools/eservices. After potholes are identified, crews will begin repairing them from December 14 until work is completed — the county is expecting the work to take two to three weeks to complete.

“The Pothole Sweeps Week program is a win-win kind of effort for the county and residents,” said Mike Penrose, the director of the Sacramento County Department of Transportation. “It provides an opportunity for SACDOT to prepare roadway surfaces for the storm season, and also helps establish a better connection with our customers so they can learn more about our services and how they can assist us in serving them.”

Pothole Sweeps Weeks are scheduled twice a year — once in the Fall before the storm season and again in late Spring — and are designed to enhance their ongoing maintenance activities. The county Department of Transportation said they repair 33,000 potholes annually, and each pothole costs approximately $55.36 to repair.
