Employees of EdFund, a Rancho Cordova-based nonprofit organization, collected 17,552 diapers in its “Diaper Derby” competition benefiting the Cordova Community Food Locker. The company’s Core Values Committee organized the friendly competition, dividing the organization into four teams competing to bring in the most diaper donations. The winning team brought in more than 7,000 diapers.
“Diapers are a big expense for any family, with the average child spending 25,000 hours of their life in diapers and
needing about 6,000 diapers,” said EdFund President Dr. Sam Kipp. “In today’s tough economy, EdFund’s Core Values Committee knew that collecting diapers for the Cordova Community Food Locker would be a wonderful contribution to our neighbors in need.”
Said Congressman Dan Lungren, “For 22 years, the Cordova Community Food Locker has been serving people in the region who are down on their luck. I have always greatly admired the work of this organization, and Deacon Little is a dear friend. I’m proud that EdFund recognized a need and didn’t hesitate to offer help.”
EdFund staff love a good cause and a competition. The winning team was recognized by Congressman Lungren’s office and Deacon Walter Little from the Cordova Community Food Locker on Monday, November 30. EdFund staff participated in the presentation and loading of the donated diapers, as everyone contributed to the success of the Diaper Derby!
The Cordova Community Food Locker was founded in 1987, and has been helping our community’s less fortunate ever since. As the economy worsens, the food locker relies heavily upon the support of local businesses, churches, the Sacramento Food Bank, and California Emergency Food Link.

Way to go Edfunder’s. It’s heart-warming to see local businesses give back to the community in such a big way.
Diapers are expensive. What a thoughtful way to help those in need!
