Black Friday Shopping: Local Savings and Specials
I‘ll admit it. I enjoy shopping more than the average person. I’m not just your average shopper, however. I was a frugalista before frugality was popular. There are those few, rare occasions when I feel as though I can shop to excess, while staying within a reasonable budget, of course. One of those days is just around the corner. Oh the sweet smell of 4 a.m. specials on blenders, makeup, pillows, and televisions. Black Friday sales make my heart beat a teensy bit faster from the joy of it all.
I’m also a big fan of shopping locally. It just makes sense to spend your money in your own community, right? For those of you that might not have been watching the Black Friday sales websites as religiously as I have, I have come up with a easy to use guide to Black Friday shopping, just for you.
Target always has fantastic deals on Black Friday and since they just opened a brand new store for us in Rancho Cordova, I think it’s only fair to spend a portion of our Friday morning strategically perusing the aisles. They’re also offering a special on shipping if you spend more than $50 on their website.
Oh Walmart. Love it or hate it, you have to admit there can be some great deals to be found amongst the severely crowded aisles of shoppers on the post-tryptophan high of day after Thanksgiving shopping. This might be a good place to practice the divide and conquer technique. Family members and close friends make excellent early morning shopping buddies!
You should also check out our friendly neighborhood K-Mart. I’ve found the Rancho K-Mart to be far less crowded than other big box stores in Rancho. Plus, the customer service is great there. Check out their Friday Specials too, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
Kohl’s also has great Black Friday deals. You can build a list on their website too. I talked to a Kohl’s employee once the week before Thanksgiving, and she told me that they have to be at the store at 2:30 to prepare for the early morning opening. Since then, I’ve had a much higher level of respect for Kohl’s employees and feel like we should support them in any way we can; like showing up as the doors open Friday morning. Who’s with me?
I sincerely wish there was an easy button in real life. I’d never iron a piece of clothing ever again! However, since easy buttons are things of fairy tales and commercials, Staples does their very best to make your life as simple as they can. They have all the gadgets to prove it. Staples is also having a Black Friday specials with early bird shopping beginning at 6:00 a.m.
If you’re planning on shopping outside of Rancho Cordova, feel free to make lists, check them not twice, but multiple times, and scour the following websites. I promise you’ll be much better prepared to face the turkey stuffed crowds if you have a game plan and a strategy. Blackfriday.info lets you check out ads by the store and sign up for an email every time a store releases their new ad. Their information is at the bottom of the page, and they keep the most updated Black Friday news at the top of the page. BlackFridayads.com features all the Black Friday ads you could possibly want, plus they have a little countdown till Black Friday going at the top of the page .
There are a few basic rules to Black Friday shopping. Remember to stay caffeinated and well hydrated. This is no time to let drowsiness slow you down. Wear comfy shoes. Black Friday specials don’t care how cute your new black heels are. Finally, be nice. The older lady who steals your prime parking spot is someone’s grandma. Treat her that way.
Let the Christmas shopping begin!
