The Rotary Club of Rancho Cordova has been a pillar of the Rancho Cordova community for many years. For over 30 years, the group has been providing Christmas food baskets for families in need. The food baskets are intended to provide sufficient food for the respective families for the two week period that the children are out of school for the Christmas break.

The Rotarians organize canned food drives at Rancho Cordova’s secondary schools for three weeks in November and December. These canned food drives usually raise 7,000 to 10,000 cans. The Rotary Club supplements those foods with additional canned goods, hams, potatoes, oranges, bread, cereal, milk and butter. Baby food is also provided for families with infant children.

From December 12 through the 19th, the Rotarians will be sorting and purchasing food and boxing everything up. The boxes will be available for pick up or delivery on December 19th, the start of the winter school break.

Families chosen to receive the food baskets are referred to the Rotary Club by Rancho Cordova Schools.

The Rotary Club of Rancho Cordova welcomes support from community organizations and individuals. Inquiries can be addressed to the Club at P.O. Box 215, Rancho Cordova, CA 95741. For additional information, please call Neil Orchard at 635-8668.

I’m very impressed with the work that Rotary does for our community. I recently had the pleasure of working with them to create a 45-second video to be used to introduce their club through email: http://brightfarm.com/bvi/Rotary2009.wmv
