Operation Gobble Provides 400 Turkeys to Rancho Cordova Charities

The Rancho Cordova City Council and California Assemblywoman Alyson Huber joined forces with Golden State Water Company to distribute 400 turkeys to local charitable organizations through Operation Gobble. Representatives from the sponsors and participating organizations met at the Rancho Cordova City Hall to start the distribution process – pictured are front row: Joe Gilbert (left), and Alan Withers, both from the Rancho Cordova Kiwanis Club; back row: Bob Pulley (left), Senior Gleaners; Bob Burns, Sr., Elks Club; Rancho Cordova City Council Members David Sander and Robert McGarvey; Mayor Dan Skoglund; and Tim Reardon, Chief of Staff for Assemblywoman Huber’s office.

Golden State Water Company, which purchased the turkeys, has been a part of Operation Turkey since 1990. They have coordinated their distribution with the City of Rancho Cordova for several years. This year, Assemblywoman Huber’s office also supported the distribution. “We are pleased again to play a role in Golden State Water Company’s tradition of helping disadvantaged families to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Mayor Skoglund.

Mayor Skoglund and Council Member Sander gave 120 turkeys to the Rancho Cordova Kiwanis; Council Members McGarvey and Linda Budge gave 120 turkeys to the Elks; and Vice Mayor Ken Cooley gave 60 turkeys to the Cordova Community Food Locker. Assemblywoman Huber’s office delivered 50 turkeys to the Mather Community Campus and 50 to the Rancho Cordova Kiwanis.
